A List of SAG-AFTRA Approved Agencies

Looking for a list of the legitimate agencies for professional actors? You can find them on SAG-AFTRA’s website by clicking on the links below. Keep in mind that according to SAG-AFTRA, there are two types of approved agencies, “SAG-AFTRA Franchised Agents” and “AFTRA 12-C Only/ATA/NATR Agents.” SAG-AFTRA franchised agents and ATA (Association of Talent Agents) agents are both involved in representing actors, but they operate under different frameworks. SAG-AFTRA franchised agents have a specific agreement with the union which requires them to adhere to the union’s rules and regulations when representing its members. ATA, on the other hand, is a trade association that represents talent agencies and negotiates agreements with various guilds, including SAG-AFTRA.

Many of the ATA agencies listed on the SAG-AFTRA website may only be franchised under the AFTRA rules, and the agency may attempt to offer you a non-conforming GSA (General Service Agreement) contract for representation. Those contracts may be far more restrictive and financially more burdensome. SAG-AFTRA members should carefully review such documents before signing them, and understand their rights should they still wish to engage that agency. It’s always recommended that you check with an attorney before you sign any contract. You can contact the Professional Representatives Department at (323) 549-6745 in LA or (212) 863-4230 in NY if you have any questions regarding any aspect of your agency relationships. You can also click here for more information. Many large agencies, even those not directly franchised with SAG-AFTRA, are members of ATA but only those listed via the links below are approved by SAG-AFTRA
